General Electric Company (GE) is an American multinational conglomerate incorporated in New York City and headquartered in Boston. As of 2018, the company operates through the following segments: aviation, healthcare, power, renewable energy, digital industry, additive manufacturing, venture capital and finance and lighting.
In 2018, GE ranked among the Fortune 500 as the 18th-largest firm in the U.S. by gross revenue. In 2011, GE ranked among the Fortune 20 as the 14th-most profitable company but has since very severely underperformed the market (by about 75%) as its profitability collapsed. Two employees of GE—Irving Langmuir (1932) and Ivar Giaever (1973)—have been awarded the Nobel Prize.
Supporting Egypt’s Power Generation Capacity
As the demand for electricity increases, GE continues to develop innovative technologies; products and services that would help improve the quality of life of Egyptians. Along with our partners, GE is committed to securing a stable supply of electricity even during peak demand. GE’s expertise and technological innovation help power Egypt today, and for many years to come.
Energy production in Egypt
GE signs an agreement in Egypt to build a 50 MW solar farm, the company’s first turnkey solar power plant project anywhere in the world. Once completed, the plant located in Benban will provide enough electricity to meet the needs of 15,000 Egyptian homes.
